SUN: Lakes & Prairies 2026 Solar Co-op

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is back with their solar co-op in West Central MN!

SUN is a non-profit organization helping residents across the United States, including here in Minnesota, go solar and save on their energy bills. In Minnesota alone, they have already helped over 500 families choose solar, amounting to $20 million in energy savings.

Through their co-op structure, community members can sign up, collectively choose an installer through a Request for Proposal, and get an individualized quote for their home solar installation. A SUN program associate is there each step of the way to guide participants through the process.

Their Lakes & Prairies 2026 Solar Co-op is open to residents of Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkins County. You can sign up through May 31, 2026.

Looking to learn more information? Join them in Morris on Tuesday, March 24th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the West Central Research and Outreach Center for an in-person Solar 101.

Can’t make it to an in-person info session? Check out their recorded session to learn more!

There will also be a Solar Celebration with West Central Initiative on April 22 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the West Central Initiative headquarters, where SUN and WCI will discuss the success of past Lakes & Prairies Solar Co-ops as well as what the 2026 cohort will look like.
